1915 – 2015 Hulett Hotel Fire Anniversary: “Lincoln Pictures”

One of the actual “Lincoln” photographs that was turned over to me. The top picture depicts an image from the life of President Lincoln, the bottom picture of the “new” hotel is what was glued to the back. Nineteen of these images complete the full scene from Lincoln’s life on the “front,” while also capturing important scenes from Huletts Landing during the winter of 1915-16. Those nineteen pictures are all presented in the book, The Hulett Hotel Fire on Lake George. (Click images to see larger version.)

November 14, 2015 marks the 100th anniversary of the Hulett Hotel fire, which I chronicled in my book, The Hulett Hotel Fire on Lake George. After the fire, there was a trial which I also detail in the book.

The story behind how nineteen pictures came to light from the winter of 1915-1916, which show the “new” hotel being constructed after the fire, are detailed in the beginning of the book. To see what the full Lincoln image that the Hulett pictures were attached to looked like, turn to page 14.

The nineteen pictures attached to the back make up a central part of the story. I present the one above, as it came to me, to historically commemorate the 100 year anniversary of the fire.

To date, how and why they were attached to the back of the Lincoln drawing is a mystery.
